Where did you attend medical school?

I went to medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and graduated in 2004 with AOA honors.

Where did you do your residency?

I did residency at the Grand Forks Family Medicine Residency in Grand Forks, ND and also did a one-year OB Fellowship there.

Within your specialty, do you have a sub-specialty interest or area of practice that you particularly enjoy?

I enjoy full spectrum Family Medicine and have a special interest in sports medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics. I absolutely love seeing kids as they always bring a smile to my face and give me an opportunity to be a kid and silly myself.

What do you most enjoy about teaching?

I love teaching and have always made an effort to have Medical Students rotate with me in clinic. It helps keep me sharp and it's amazing how much I learn from them as well.

What brought you to Montana?

I was born and raised in Kalispell, MT and was lucky enough to move back to such a wonderful and beautiful town. There is no place in the world I would rather be and raise my children.

Why did you choose to be part of the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana?

I choose to be a part of the Family Medicine Residency because I love teaching and I want to be able to help the people of Montana long into the future. By putting my hands on patients I have the ability to help thousands of people, but by helping educate the future doctors of Montana I have the ability to help many more.

What are your interests outside the clinic or classroom?

My interests outside of Medicine include first and foremost my wonderful family. I have a beautiful wife and six incredible kids that bring joy and laughter into every single day. I also enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. My favorite hobby is motocross racing, which my whole family is a part of.

What do you love about Western Montana?

I love everything about Western Montana from the beautiful, crystal clear lakes, the amazing mountains, the wonderful people, and because it is home for me.

What’s your favorite:

  • Book? My favorite book is a tough one. I am not a big novel reader but I did enjoy The Da Vinci Code
  • Album? I enjoy all types of music and listen to just about everything.
  • Movie? My favorite movie is a tie between Forrest Gump which has great life lessons and covers a large part of US history, and Patch Adams which reminds me of how important laughing with our patients is.
