Nathan Gilliam

Program Coordinator

Where did you attend college?  nathan gilliam and his dog.

I completed my undergrad degree at Longwood University and I am currently working on my masters degree here at UM.

What brought you to Montana?

I was looking for something different. Before moving to Montana the farthest west I had been was Sioux Falls, SD and I wanted to explore a bit further. This, combined with my desire to work with higher education, lead me to looking out west.

Why did you choose to be part of the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana?

The amazing opportunity that it provides me in my higher education career. I figured out I wanted to help others with their educational goals during undergrad. While medical education was not on my mind during that time, working at the FMRWM checked every box in a dream job for me.

What are your interests outside the University and FMRWM?

Soccer has always been a part of my life. I have been a player, organizer for community pick-up games, and coach. I really look forward to joining in on all the fun with Missoula’s recreational soccer programs and be a supporter of it in anyway I can. I also enjoy many of the other great outdoor rec oppurtunties Montana has to offer.

What do you love about Western Montana?

That the people have been incredibly welcoming. That each new road I have driven seems to take me to a whole new type of landscape. Missoula specifically, I love that any direction you look there is painting like view of the mountains. It really is a beautiful place.

What's your favorite book?

It is to hard to choose just one, but a few book series I really anjoy are Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, the Ender's Game, as well as many other fiction works.
