You got the grant, Congratulations! Now what? This webinar series will give you an overview of your duties and responsibilities as a grant manager with a strong focus on resource allocation and budgeting. If you have ever questioned what your role is as a grant manager, or felt overwhelmed considering how to allocate resources and managing project finances, then this training is for you. Even if you are currently managing a grant, this training will allow you to see if you are covering all the bases and to be able to make improvements so you can manage your budget more effectively.

What if you aren’t grant funded? This training is still for you! Since the training will focus heavily on budgeting, any program manager who works with a budget should find the tools covered in this webinar series to be useful.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this webinar series you will be able to:

  1. Identify the 3 overarching categories of resources that managers allocate.
  2. Identify the 5 reasons for documentation.
  3. Identify the 3 categories of project documentation.
  4. Define in-kind contributions, direct costs and indirect costs (and classify your budget into these categories).
  5. Identify the 5 components of a total project budget and contrast those components with the grant budget.
  6. Calculate a variance analysis.
  7. Calculate key performance indicators (KPI) and create a Dashboard
  8. Deal with budget cuts
  9. Conduct a scenario and sensitivity analysis
  10. Write a budget narrative to accompany a grant renewal or grant proposal

Trisha Miller

Dr. Trisha Miller is an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Montana in the School of Community and Public Health. Professor Miller teaches online classes covering a variety of Public Health topics such as Health Policy, Research Methods and Evaluation, Public Management, Budgeting, and Ethics. Professor Miller teaches research methods and policy courses to undergraduates at California State University, Fullerton and she resides in California.
