High School to Pharmacy School to Diploma

Are you a motivated high school student? 

Is your GPA 3.5 or higher? 

Did you score at least 25 on your ACT (or SAT equivalent)?


If you answered YES to those questions, you could be eligible for the University of Montana Skaggs School of Pharmacy GrizRx Assurance Program.  The GrizRx Assurance Program is open to high school seniors who are applying to the University of Montana and are interested in pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. 

Students in the GrizRx Assurance Program complete their pre-pharmacy requirements with advice and support from faculty in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy.   Up to 20 seats in our first-year PharmD class are reserved for students enrolled in the GrizRx Assurance Program.

If you have Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Project Lead the Way, or Dual Enrollment credits, please contact the UM Admissions Office for more information about these Adanced Options.

GrizRx Assurance Program Information

  • Completion of Skaggs School of Pharmacy pre-requisite courses with at least a C- grade
  • Achievement of a GPA of at least 3.0 in pre-requisite courses
  • Achievement of a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Completion of the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) with a minimum composite percentile of 40
  • Completion of 20 hours of observation, preferably in a pharmacy
  • Submit a PharmCAS application
  • Dedicated pharmacy faculty advisors who will provide individualized support during the pre-pharmacy program
  • Opportunities for pharmacy job shadowing or volunteer work connected with the UM Skaggs School of Pharmacy
  • Opportunities to do research with Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty
  • GrizRx Assurance Program scholarships
  • Assistance identifying and completing applications for other scholarships and financial support
After you have been admitted to the University of Montana, complete the GrizRx Assurance Program application (button below) to be considered for the program.  Once you are accepted, you will be assigned a pharmacy faculty advisor who will help you select and register for UM courses.
To apply, you will need
  • Your ACT or SAT Score Report
  • Copy of your current Academic transcript
In order to claim your seat in the pharmacy program, you must
  • Complete the pre-pharmacy curriculum within two years
  • Complete all pharmacy prerequisite courses with at least a C- grade
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Have a PCAT composite score in the 40th percentile or greater
  • Completion of 20 hours of observation, preferably in a pharmacy
  • Submit a PharmCAS application
