Amy Lommen, MPH Student, Wins "Student Leaders in Public Health" Stipend
Amy Lommen, a Masters of Public Health (MPH) student with the School of Public and Community Health Sciences at the University of Montana, was recently awarded a Leadership Opportunity stipend by the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center.
Amy says the following about her project:
"I will be focusing on Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) requirements for the Mineral County Health Department. Currently, only a handful of the larger area Health Departments are accredited through PHAB, and only 2 frontier counties in the nation are accredited. Its a big deal for our little frontier health department. There are many many plans and documents we need in place in order to apply for accreditation. It is my hope that this stipend will help move us much faster towards the application process. I believe I will be utilizing the stipend to develop a Quality Improvement Plan as well as Workforce Development Plan for Mineral County Health Department. "
