Sarah Hilbert Krumm

MSW Practicum Student

Personal Summary

A dedicated MSW student in her second year at UM, Sarah is fervently committed to crafting positive transformations in both individuals and communities. With an underlying drive to champion resiliency, social justice, and empowerment, she blends evidence-based practices with genuine community engagement. Drawing from her diverse professional background, Sarah offers a multi-faceted perspective that is imbued with a determination to leave a lasting impact.

Currently, she collaborates closely with Mary Collins at the Center for Children, Families and Workforce Development. As a Capacity Development Specialist, Sarah is working to enhance the early childhood community's capacity across the state. From aiding the Headwaters Foundation Grantee Support Program to forging state-wide strategies with Zero-to-Five HMHB, Sarah’s involvement extends even to individual ECCs across Montana. Her role also encompasses research for the EC workforce pathways group, as well as other responsibilities related to maternal-child health.

In her previous roles, spanning from a Family Resiliency Specialist to a Legal Assistant, Sarah has showcased her adaptability and effectiveness. As a Program Coordinator at Greater Gallatin United Way & kidsLINK Afterschool, her tenacity was evident in her efforts to bolster Montana's child care infrastructure.

Deeply influenced by her personal experiences, Sarah sees herself as an unwavering advocate. She believes in the power of narratives - her own and those of others - to bridge minds and evoke changes in perception on challenging issues. Her passion stems from recognizing the intricate interplay between data and ideology in public policy implementation.

Looking ahead, while her vast experience centers around system building and policy advocacy, Sarah finds herself increasingly drawn to the realm of private practice. Having recently delved into Expressive Arts therapy and Polyvagal Theory she envisions further exploration in this healing modality, seeing its potential as a transformative tool.

Hobbies

Outside of work, I cherish rollerblading and delving into creative art practices, particularly through a weekly online art studio session. Parenthood, especially with my vibrant 6-year-old, Boaz, informs and enriches my professional insights, emphasizing the beauty and challenges of American parenting. Fun fact: I once raised and rescued chickens in Pray, Montana, and dream of having a flock again!
