This training is created to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to communicate with patients, provide appropriate treatment with access to resources as needed, and ultimately decrease the burden of disease in your county as well as the state of Montana.
The training consists of eLearning modules with integrated tele-coaching sessions after each module.
In Module 1, Professional Skills for Disease Investigation, you will gain the knowledge and skills to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population while discussing sensitive health history topics, the importance of patient and partner confidentiality, how to ensure your safety while working in the field, and state rules of communicable disease reporting. This module lays the groundwork for all types of disease investigation.
Subsequent modules will cover disease-specific training for both the index case and their partners or contacts. The modules are packed with information to help you as the DIS better understand the complexities of each disease which will ultimately enhance your decision-making skills. Modules will include lessons on signs and symptoms, testing, treatment, follow-up, and appropriate referrals for the specified disease, as well as additional training in areas such as trauma-informed care, PrEP, and gender diversity.
Signing In:
- If this is your first time signing in, select “Create New Account.”
- Read the Moodle Cloud privacy policy and click “next” on the left-hand side.
- Read the Moodle Cloud cookies policy and click “next” on the left-hand side.
- Check the boxes indicating you agree to the previous policies, then click “next” on the left-hand side.
- Choose your username and password.
- Enter your personal information and click on “Create My New Account.”
- Once you are logged in, click on the “Home” button, located under your profile or to the left of your dashboard.
- Under free training for everyone, select Disease Intervention Specialist Training to self-enroll. Enjoy your training!
